Other Supporters of the Hall
Broomfield & Kingswood Twinning Group
In 1987 two ladies from Broomfield, Colorado came to England in search of a “twin”. They visited 3 Broomfields in England and chose us. They were impressed by the castle and the beautiful Kent countryside.
As the years have gone by, members have come and gone. Around 2006 a new membership got the group up and running again. They meet about 4 times a year and try to keep the village involved in the Twinning.
In the past years, visitors from Broomfield, Colorado have been welcomed into the village. Members have given accommodation and hosted meals for them. They have had tea with Maidstone’s Mayor and a Q&A with children at the Kingswood Primary School. All of them enjoying the local atmosphere.
Every year the Twinning Group holds a Spring and Autumn Walk which is open to anyone in the village. These walks are not too challenging and usually culminate in a pub lunch. It is a chance to get together and enjoy refreshments with like-minded people. The walks are advertised in the Parish Magazine and on the Parish notice boards.
The Village Hall Summer Fair sees the Twinning Group presenting a stall to raise funds. In the past there has been such themes as, Bagatelle, Name the Bear, The Marbles in the Flower-pot and How Many Balloons in the Car?
The whole concept of Twinning is to promote friendship across the miles and many of our villagers have been eager to help with this challenge.
